BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Dr. Semple-Rowland earned her B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1977, graduating magna cum laude. She received a M.Sc. degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1979 and her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 1986. She spent three years as a postdoctoral associate with Dr. Robert Ulshafer from 1986-1989 studying protein changes associated with inherited retinal disease in the avian model of Leber congential amaurosis type 1 (LCA1). She joined the Neuroscience faculty at the University of Florida as an Assistant Research Scientist in 1990. Currently, Dr. Semple-Rowland is a Professor of Neuroscience. She also serves as Director of the Neuroscience IDP Graduate Program.
