Arthur Robbins

Dr. Arthur Robbins received his Ph. D. in Crystallography at the University of Pittsburgh, under the direction of Dr. G. A. Jeffrey. As a post-doctoral associate with Dr. C. David Stout, he worked on the structures of various metalloproteins at Pittsburgh, and later at the Research Institute of Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA. His work culminated in the crystal structures of a very large enzyme, aconitase, and a very small metal storage protein, metallothionein. In 1988, Dr. Robbins joined Miles Pharmaceuticals, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bayer AG, in West Haven, CT. There he established the macromolecular X-ray component of their Structural Chemistry Group, directed by Dr. Robert Tilton. In 2005, Dr. Robbins moved to the University of Florida as a part-time faculty member, first in the laboratory of Dr. Ben Dunn, and then with Drs. Mavis Agbandje- and Robert McKenna.
