AMRIS Advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy Facility Please also see: 4.7t coils and 11t coils The RF Coil LaboratoryThe RF Coil Laboratory at the McKnight Brain Institute combines high-field small animal and human whole body research and development. The RF Laboratory is equipped with an array of test equipment and tools such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF impedance meters, a noise figure meter, current probes, electric and magnetic field probes, function generator, DC power supplies, Gauss meter, Agilent dielectric probe, FDTD simulation software and hand tools. It is also supplied with specialized electrical components for the construction of MRI coils, such as nonmagnetic, high voltage ceramic and variable capacitors, a variety of air core inductors and copper foils, small and large diameter nonmagnetic coaxial cables and connectors, gallium arsenide field effect transistors and surface mount components. The lab is also equipped with circuit simulation tools and circuit board production facilities. The RF lab supplies coils for general use, as well as develops new technologies, for the small animal and human whole body imaging systems in AMRIS. Basic sets of quadrature volume coils and surface coil arrays have been built for the small animal and human whole body systems. These coils are available for general use (see coil links above). In addition, a coil request form is available for researchers in need of specialized designs.
